What is Fairy Hair?

WHAT IS FAIRY HAIR? Also known as bling, glitter, hair tinsel, or hair sparkles, a strand or two is tied onto one or two hairs, and falls out when the hairs fall out. Some last for a couple months, others fall out within a couple days or a week. I use the kind that’s made of silk and it is more expensive than the cheaper hair tinsel you can find online. The silk hair tinsel can be blown dry, hot ironed, curled and colored. I have about 35 colors to choose from.

How is Fairy Hair attached?

I take one hair, and with a small tool, I tie the hair tinsel onto it with a secure knot. The hair falls out naturally or may tear out if pulled hard. Obviously, you want to brush your hair carefully, starting from the bottom and avoid yanking out the hair and tinsel, which is fastened about an inch from the scalp. If you want the tinsel positioned right near the scalp, I can also utilize the slip knot method, although it tends to slide off more easily as it is not as securely fastened. I can utilize one or both techniques! I always put in more strands than advertised, so that you don’t feel too badly when they shed. My own fall out about 30 per cent in a week or two, but some hang in there for a month. I have fine, slippery hair! But I have a friend whose last up to 3 months, so it really varies.

WHY FAIRY HAIR? It’s great entertainment – Girls love them at birthday parties; they make weddings special for the bride and bridesmaids; they are perfect for costumes and Halloween parties; and for no reason at all, just to look beautiful. But be warned: Fairy Hair is addictive!
